The Better Business Bureau abbreviated as BBB was founded in the year 1912. It was established as a nonprofit organization. The organization was determined to advance the trust in a marketplace.
The bureau is made up of around 106 independent incorporated local BBB companies. These companies are situated in Canada and United States. BBB’s coordination is done by the Council of Better Business Bureaus abbreviated as CBBB. The coordination is located in Arlington, Virginia.
BBB gives access to companies that are in excellent standing to use its trademarked logo. The logo is used for marketing purposes. Such organizations must be vetted first. They must also be confirmed to be ones that pay their dues. They should also continue to obey the code of business practices set down by BBB.
A total of up to 400, private-based businesses in North America upkeep BBB.
Up till 2008, Better Business Bureau was used a rated scheme of “unsatisfactory” or “satisfactory.” But on the 1st of January, 2009, it changed to a fresh style based on the formal school style A+ – F ratings.
An eligible company should meet the accreditation of BBB. It is also essential for it to maintain its trust with BBB by following the below rules: –
- Maintaining positive track records in its marketplace
- Being transparent
- Being responsive in addressing market differences
- Honest advertising
- Telling the truth
- Honoring promises
- Safeguarding people’s privacy
- Embodying integrity
The BBB Accredited Businesses pay a fee for accreditation review. They also pay for the monitoring and support of BBB services to the public.
Although, BBB accreditation does not imply that the company’s services or products have been evaluated. It also does not mean that BBB has determined as to the business’s product quality.
