President Donald Trump will speak at the National Rifle Association’s annual leadership forum in Atlanta later this month, the gun lobby said Friday.
The NRA, which endorsed Trump when he ran for president and backed him through spending on advertisements, announced the scheduled April 28 appearance on Twitter.
On the stump as a candidate, Trump often touted his commitment to gun rights and accused his general election opponent, Hillary Clinton, of wanting to get rid of the Second Amendment because of her support of gun control measures.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump, Jr., is an avid outdoorsman who similarly called on gun owners to support his father’s bid for the White House.
According to the NRA’s website, Trump’s secretary of the interior, Ryan Zinke, is also expected to speak at the conference, as are other prominent Republicans, such as Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Sens. Ted Cruz, Luther Strange, David Perdue and Rob Portman.
