Fox News: Trump's Megyn Kelly tweets 'beneath the dignity' of presidential candidate

Fox News Channel blasted Republican presidential contender Donald Trump’s comments about star anchor Megyn Kelly, saying that he had an “extreme, sick obsession” with her and that they were “beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate”

Trump tweeted a number of times over the last couple of days about Kelly, culminating Friday evening with a tweet that said “Everybody should boycott the @megynkelly show. Never worth watching. Always a hit on Trump! She is sick, & the most overrated person on tv.”

Trump and Kelly have been in something of a one-sided feud since the first Republican debate last year, when she led things off by asking about his past history with sexist statements.

Friday evening, Fox News released this statement responding to Trump:

“Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land. Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America — we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults. As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable news, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job.”

Trump is currently booked to appear on a town hall Monday evening on Fox News at 10 p.m., where he is scheduled to be interviewed by Sean Hannity. Kelly will interview ted Cruz during the 9 p.m. hour.
