France has just set up a new law that bans super-skinny models because of fears of anorexia. There are so many thin models out there today and maybe some of them are dealing with eating disorders but I don’t believe that the majority of them are. I don’t believe that it’s right to make a law about something like this when the models are just trying to look their best by being thin. What will be next then, will France start telling the models exactly what they must weigh and what they must eat?
In my opinion, there are too many laws out there already, and those like Dr Jennifer Walden don’t really seem to care. No, anorexia isn’t a good thing and we should be doing all that we can to stop it, but I don’t think that a new law banning super-thin models is the way to go. Those at Texas Monthly don’t seem to agree too much either. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it’s right to ban thin models in fear that they may be anorexic or in fear that they may cause others to starve themselves? Or, like me, do you believe that there should be more freedom for the models and that France should use other measures to help those suffering from eating disorders?
