Focus on OSI Group’s Acquisition of Baho Food

OSI Group recently announced its acquisition of Baho Food. OSI Group announced that it had acquired a controlling stake in the private company with a Dutch origin. Baho Food is mainly involved in the manufacturing of food items and meat products for the retail and food service industries. This transaction is awaiting merger control approval.

Baho Food Plants

Baho Food runs its plants in the Netherlands and Germany via its five auxiliary companies. These are Vital Convenience, Gelderland Frischwaren, Bakx Foods, Q Smart Life and Henri van de Bilt. These firms have a history that runs into 60 years or thereabout. They market and also sell a diverse range of convenience foods, deli meats and snacks to their customers spread over 18 countries in Europe.


David G. McDonald, the President and CEO of OSI Group located in Aurora, Illinois, stated that the addition of Baho Food to the group would increase the group’s presence in Europe. He added that it would give the company a broader presence given that it deals with brands and products that complement the current OSI’s processing strengths and broadening the capabilities to serve the evolving needs of OSI clients.

Baho Food Team to be Retained

It is expected that the Managing Director at Baho Food,John Balvers, will continue serving in the company together with his entire team in the management. This team will work together with the senior executives at OSI to come up with an implementation plan that will position the company better for future long term growth. Balvers on his part stated that he was happy for becoming part of the bigger OSI Group.

He described the relationship that OSI has with its suppliers and customers as outstanding. He expressed optimism that the new developments will see Baho Food benefit a lot from the capabilities and experience it will get from OSI Group. Balvers further expounded that the two companies combined strengths will enable the companies support their customers to realize the new strategy and get a larger product portfolio.

He concluded that the new transaction would accelerate its growth strategy and support the company in the realization of its goals.
